BinaryLabs is a leading a leading educational & information applications developer. We launched CourseIQ.net as a way of helping amateur and professional golfers improve their scores. The site uses satellite imagery and proprietary software to display virtual flyovers of golf courses throughout the United States.
"After playing in a couple of tournaments, I learned that being familiar with a golf course is critical to scoring well," said Frank Jensen, CEO of BinaryLabs and a Golf Channel Amateur Tour player. "I did some research and did not find a web site that does a good job of giving golfers a visual preview of each hole, so we decided to apply our multimedia design and production expertise and build a site that addresses this untapped market."
In addition to the flyovers, the site also offers educational webinars that address the needs of the competitive golfer. "Playing in a real tournament is an entirely different experience than playing with your buddies on the weekend, " said Jensen. "Our site gives competitive golfers the edge they need in order to play with confidence and save a few strokes."
Using satellite imagery provided by Google Earth, the flyovers are rendered in a proprietary Flash-based engine developed by the company. The flyovers include data on each hole and a comments section that allows players to share questions and commentary about how best to play each hole on the course.
"Having local knowledge of the nuances of a course or its greens can mean the difference between a good score and a mediocre score. Our site provides the vehicle to allow golfers to access and share knowledge about how best to play the course," said Jensen.
